Laura Harrington

Laura Harrington (b. 1980, Wales) is an artist and practice based researcher that lives and works in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. Her work is concerned with our relationship to landscape and how an increased awareness of ‘distant’, mundane and overlooked places are vital and necessary. She works with aesthetically difficult, in-between places such as ‘up’, ‘peat’, ‘moor’ and ‘wet’ lands to re-visualise our connection to what in the long term sustains us. She works across media including film, installation, painting and drawing. During her residency with HIAP she will be developing new work around mires in Finland and specifically palsa mires, a lowland permafrost and important periglacial environment in Lapland.
