The splitting and the space between

A splitting can occur in a second or be a long drawn out process, the reverberations felt through all forms, spanning an accountable amount of time, touching all aspects of being; political, physical, emotional or other.  A splitting can leave you with two sides or nothing at all, two sides of something – like black and white, two sides of a spectrum with every shade and bearing in between.

The space in between is a place to be lost, a passage through which to find the way, a time of contemplation and change, an abyss as well as a path.

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯 refers to all moments of life that create change, how change is multi-sided and process based, the space in between houses many of us, who are on our way somewhere, figuring out the next steps.

The exhibition spans painting to sound work, reaching into these artists’ lives at a poignant moment, a time of great change and great heartbreak, where one action, started on February 24th, pulsates through their existence.  A moment that is not at the heart of this exhibition but nevertheless needs to be noted because work produced after this moment, as well as before, cannot be but (re)examined through the lens of war.
