15 August, Studio Augustin, HIAP Suomenlinna

A performance titled, Ooloo and Loopix present “…it will be something…” is a new work by Australian artists Aleks Danko and Jude Walton with the collaboration of the Finnish poet Hanna-Miia Siisiäinen. The performance is a culmination of Danko’s and Walton’s three-month Australia Council for the Arts residency at HIAP Suomenlinna.

The work embraces slippages in language through a strategy of fingling where meaning is deconstructed and reconstructed through cut-ups of current Finnish curatorial texts, local design references, and odd translations of words and phrases to create a sort of “Finglish” Poetics. This playful layering of language will be further activated by actions and gestures that hopefully will exercise the eye and mind of the viewer in a kind of (mis)understanding which often occurs in translation…

The studio doors open on Thursday 15 August at 6 pm. The performance starts at 6:30 sharp. Welcome!
