HIAP is Hiring – Residency Assistant (Part Time / Fixed Term)

We are looking for a part time Residency Assistant to support our international artist in residence programme at Suomenlinna and Cable Factory.

Title: Residency Assistant
Term: 1 Year Fixed Term
Time: 60% Part Time
Salary: €1200 per month

Reporting to: Residency Coordinator

Start Date: 9 December 2024

Role and Responsibilities

The Residency Assistant supports the Residency Coordinator to ensure a high quality and comfortable experience in the HIAP Suomenlinna and Cable Factory residency site. This includes, and is not limited to:

  • Maintaining the premises and equipment including general upkeep and minor repairs, inventories, organising major repairs. 
  • Supporting the Residency Coordinator to ensure HIAP Residents receive the best possible welcome and have a comfortable stay during their time with us. 
  • Assisting Residents during their stay, including updating and distributing welcome packs, organising arrival and departure arrangements, establishing and maintaining clear communication lines, responding to resident queries and coordinating access to HIAP facilities and resources. 
  • Supporting residency events coordination and delivery such as Welcome Events, Afternoon Coffees, Open Studios and Farewell get togethers. 
  • Feeding into the evaluation and ongoing development of the residency programme. 
  • Communicating risks or issues to the Residency Coordinator 
  • Following HIAP procedures and policies. 

This is a hands-on role which requires physical work and strong communication skills – fluent English is required and Finnish is an advantage. The Residency Assistant will need to be regularly on site and happy to be quick to respond to queries and issues.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys meeting and speaking with people from all over the world, who may be entering the work environment in Finland and is keen to learn about developing and supporting residents’ artistic practice.
