Cliodhna Timoney
Cliodhna Timoney is a visual artist working across imagery, sculpture, and sound to trace the edges, in-betweens, and accumulations within space as a means of reflecting upon our relationships — with one another, the nonhuman, and place. Timoney graduated from Visual Arts Practice, IADT Dun Laoghaire in 2015 and the MFA in Fine Art Sculpture from The Slade School of Fine Art, London, in 2020. Recent exhibitions include Radical Archaeologies, The Glucksman, Cork (2023); The 40th EVA International Biennial, Limerick (2023); Flashes of Light, VISUAL, Carlow (2022); and TURAS, Regional Cultural Centre, Donegal (2021).
Rhythm has been a constant concern in my work; here, I aim to reveal rhythm’s potential to connect, ignite, and fundamentally destabilise fixed states and absolutes. During this residency, I will explore the interplay between natural light cycles, perceptions of time, and their influence on activity and expression. My research will focus on how markers of time, such as sunrise and sunset, take shape in Finland and the effects of this on cultural embodiments.
Cliodhna Timoney’s residency at HIAP is realised in the context of a residency exchange between HIAP and Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, Dublin.
