Kaitlyn D. Hamilton

Kaitlyn D. Hamilton (they/her) is a writer, curator and cofounder of TUO TUO, an artist-led ecological project space and residency in Joutsa, Finland. With 15 years of experience across NYC and Finland, their interdisciplinary work explores how narrative shapes reality. Integrating storytelling, conscious mirroring, human design, hypnosis, socialist herbalism* and queer ecofeminism, Kaitlyn’s work challenges traditional notions of art, economy and self-help. Their practice is grounded in experimenting with mutual-aid models and (re)distribution of resources and knowledge(s) via TUO TUO’s programme, publishing projects and in-house label, True Aether.

At HIAP, I will complete PRO LIFE, a short novel and coming-of-age tale set in the American South in the early 00s. I will be editing Lotta Petronella’s forthcoming publication and dramaturg material for Själö Poeisis, a critical study of power structures through common plants.

I will also use my time to initiate MONEY TALK, a 12-step style group for artists to vet mutual financial realities, and write scripts for a hypnosis audio series.

My projects explore experimental narratives within immersive art forms, tackling the collective struggles of affect dysregulation and social isolation that define the polycrisis era.
