A.A. Prime
A.A. Prime, or Annie to her friends, is a British literary translator born in London in 1986. Inspired by her love for words, narrative and metaphor, Prime studied languages, literature, drama, creative writing and ESL teaching before finding that literary translation incorporated all of her passions. She has a Masters in translation from University College London and now works freelance on a variety of literary projects. She loves to travel and currently splits her time between the UK and wherever else takes her fancy.
During her stay in Helsinki, Annie will be continuing work on translating the Red Abbey Chronicles trilogy by Finland-Swedish YA author Maria Turtschaninoff. After the success of the first novel Maresi, the second book Naondel is set to be a fantastical and dramatic feminist adventure, as enjoyable to translate as it will be to read.
The residency is realized in collaboration with FILI – Finnish Literature Exchange.
