Bora Hong
Bora Hong (b. 1972) has been involved in various art & design exhibitions as well as in public art projects working as a commissioner or Art Director. After graduating with an M.A. in Arts Administration from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Hong worked for the Department of Cultural Affairs Chicago as a Program Coordinator for both cultural exchange program and art education program. Currently, Hong works as the Director of Gallery FACTORY (Seoul, Korea since 2002), and the Artistic Committee of Art Fair Tokyo 2011. Hong is also the publisher of independent art magazine <versus>, a visiting lecturer of art planning and cultural policy in different universities.
During her residency at HIAP, Hong plans to continue writing a book about art & life, based on her 17 years of experience in the field of art as a curator, commissioner, educator, administrator, cultural policy maker as well as art lover. She is very much interested in when gastronomy becomes an extensive form of art & urban culture and will research the Restaurant Day project as a case study for her upcoming book. Hong is also conducting research of Helsinki based photographers and video artists for her gallery’s continuous exhibition program titled Arctic Fever, which began in 2006 and has shown or commissioned various works by artists and designer from Scandinavian region.
