Linda Hofvander
Linda Hofvander (b. 1978) is a Swedish artist that works with photography and film. She graduated in 2010 with an MA from the School of Photography at Gothenburg University, following a BA at the London College of Communication, University of the Arts. Since then her work has been exhibited in several galleries, as well as in a number of group exhibitions at art institutions.
Her work revolves around the photographic image and the illusion of reality. She often adopts a scientific approach to the simple things. By the staging of settings and objects, she wants to turn our attention to how we perceive and experience our environment through the medium – the conventions and categories as the basis for understanding, or misunderstanding, the world around us.
Linda Hofvander has received support from the Swedish-Finnish Cultural Foundation. She was hosted by HIAP in spring 2012 as a part of the Focus AiR Residency Programme. Focus AiR is initiated and co-organised by Centre for Photography (Stockholm), The Norwegian Association of Fine Art Photographers (Oslo), and Union of Artist Photographers / Photographic Gallery Hippolyte (Helsinki).
