Documentation
Documentation shows part of the artist’s work titled Mutual Annihilation (2008) in which Hultén embarked on a meticulous process in an attempt to discover the history of a found object, in this case an old chest of drawers. Yet, the restoration of the object is only one element in a wider enquiry including the complexities of observation, memory, imagination and reconstruction of past events as well as the traces of time and human intervention. The artist continues to be interested in the relationship we have with commonplace objects but is now drawn to a more scientific enquiry. Her sources of inspiration and conceptual content range from detective work to elements from quantum physics, the labour employed being representative of the energy released.
