Two artists, one studio, no compromises.

Epic Failing is a series of duets by choreographer Maija Hirvanen and a number of collaborating artists. The duets are independent performances that form a whole when performed together. The artistic substrate for the duets is the concept of failure.

Epic Failing series works with constructed expectations, and how they change. The artists try to repair things that have happened, to break down the word “compromise”, to learn something that is difficult for them.

The rehearsals of the duets began with one-on-one studio work: intensive experimentation, exploration, exchanging of visions. Epic Failing is born out of this confrontation and the question what, in the end, lies at the core of creating something.

Epic Failing ends Maija Hirvanen’s period as Zodiak’s house choreographer.
