Meet the Curator: Gabriela Salgado
The independent curator and specialist in Latin American art Gabriela Salgado will meet the public at FRAME on Tuesday 9 August at 3 pm. Visiting Helsinki in August, the Argentine-born Gabriela Salgado is an independent curator working in Great Britain and Latin America. She holds a master’s degree in curating contemporary art from the Royal College of Art. Salgado has organized several international exhibitions and projects, and has previously worked with the Latin American art collection of the University of Essex and as a curator at the Tate Modern, where she prepared events bringing together artists, researchers and different audiences. Salgado was one of the curators of Thessaloniki Biennale of 2009. Her own experiences of cultural displacement and work outside Latin America have given Salgado a unique opportunity to view the Latin American countries in ways that go beyond national paradigms.
Helsinki International Curatorial Programme jointly organized by FRAME and HIAP include the opportunity to meet curators at events open to the public.
