Peer-to-Peer Review at Kallio Kunsthalle
12 March, 5 pm, Kallio Kunsthalle
The three artists-in-residence discuss their current projects and share experiences.
Angela Washko (b. 1986) is a New York based artist and facilitator devoted to mobilizing communities and creating new forums for discussions of feminism where they do not exist. These forums are created through actions, interventions, videos, and performances- sometimes in video games! She recently founded the Council on Gender Sensitivity and Behavioral Awareness in World of Warcraft.
Jana Unmüßig (b. 1980) is a Berlin based choreographer whose choreographies combine compositional thinking and sensual awareness. Her captivating works are based on reduced movement language and stage actions that create a heightened sense of awareness and perception for the spectators. Her residency at HIAP will result in a choreography for four women-dancers, presented March 20, 2013 at Zodiak – Center for New Dance (Helsinki).
Cyrus Tang (b. 1969) was born in Hong Kong, but is based in Australia. Her art practice reflects the sentiment of nostalgia through translation of disappearance into remembrance and fantasy. It reflects her examination of the paradox of reconstructing ephemeral mental images and sensations in permanent materials. During her residency at HIAP Tang continues to work with the subject of ephemerality. She explores the traces that raise the value of existence in various appearances and forms.
The event will be held at Kallio Kunsthalle, Toinen linja 31.
