Open Calls

HIAP Residency Programme / 3-month residency / 2025

HIAP – Helsinki International Artist Programme invites artists and other art practitioners to apply for residencies in Suomenlinna and Cable Factory for the year 2025. This international open call is for artists who are not based in Finland.

The HIAP Residency Programme focuses on visual art but is open to art professionals from other disciplines as well. The programme offers time and support for developing new work in dialogue with the local art scene. The residency time can be used for open-ended research and experimentation, without the requirement to produce a finalised piece of work.

HIAP Suomenlinna atelier apartments are approx 80 sqm each, furnished, and divided into a working space downstairs and a separate living space consisting of a sleeping area, bathroom, kitchenette, and a loft upstairs. The atelier apartments can accommodate 2-4 persons. Family members are welcome in all our locations.

HIAP Cable Factory live/work studios are 63 sqm each, furnished, and include a working and living area with a kitchenette, a sleeping loft and a private bathroom. The studios can comfortably accommodate two adults or a small family.

You can also bring your dog to the residence: one of the HIAP Cable Factory live/work studios is dog-friendly.

The 3-month residencies can be applied by artists and other art practitioners. The residency does not involve financial obligations or support (the resident does not have to pay a fee to HIAP, and there is no working grant, travel funding or production budget from HIAP).

The available residency periods for 3-month residencies are:
– Winter: 8 January – 7 April 2025 at HIAP Suomenlinna or HIAP Cable Factory
– Autumn: 19 August – 17 November 2025 at HIAP Cable Factory

HIAP can grant approximately eight 3-month residencies from this open call.

More information about the residency programme and the facilities is available here: https://www.hiap.fi/residency/

The deadline for the applications is Thursday, August 15th, 2024 (11:59 pm, GMT +3).
