Open Calls
HIAP Gallery Augusta & HIAP Project Space
Local and international artists, curators, artist groups/collectives and organizations from various disciplines/creative fields are welcome to propose programme for HIAP Gallery Augusta and the new HIAP Project Space. Both spaces are located in Suomenlinna, adjacent to HIAP office and nearby the residency studios.
HIAP principally aims to support artistic exploration, cross-disciplinary creativity, and the development of new work. Hence, most of the exhibitions, events and other showcases held in HIAP Gallery Augusta and the Project Space feature new projects. Besides this, the venues can also be used as space for open experimentation and rehearsals. Please note that while it’s not necessary to reach an outcome, a public presentation of the work in progress is required. Furthermore, we accept proposals for workshops, seminars, and retreats.
In this open call, we are looking for proposals for:
◦ Autumn 2015: September, October, November
◦ Spring 2016: February, March, April, May
HIAP Gallery Augusta or HIAP Project Space will be offered to the selected applicants free of charge. Where possible, basic technical equipment (projectors, monitors, sound system, etc) can be made available during the setting up and presentation of the project. In the case of complex technical setups, the selected applicant is personally responsible for supplying the necessary equipment, materials, and assistance for the realization of the event. In the case of an exhibition, the selected applicant will be responsible for arranging the supervision of the show during the weekends.
HIAP Gallery Augusta and HIAP Project Space are located on Susisaari island in Suomenlinna. HIAP Gallery Augusta consists of two halls, occupying 175 m2 of floor space, whereas HIAP Project Space, with a surface of 130 m2, consists of two rooms.
The deadline for the applications is Tuesday, March 31, 2015, midnight Finnish time.
