Open Calls
HIAP Residency Programme / Winter 2025 / Finland-based Artists
HIAP – Helsinki International Artist Programme invites artists and other art practitioners to apply for residencies in Suomenlinna. This open call is for artists who are based in Finland.
Due to unexpected circumstances, there is a last minute opportunity to take part in the HIAP residency programme. The timeframe is short due to the nature of these circumstances and we are looking for artists living in Finland to join us for the Winter Residency season.
Priority will be given to applicants who are able to start as quickly as possible, and can undertake the residency until the end of the season which completes on 7 April 2025. We are open to applications from those who are able to undertake the residency on a full time or part time basis.
The HIAP Residency Programme focuses on visual art but is open to art professionals from other disciplines as well. The programme offers time and support for developing new work in dialogue with the local art scene. The residency time can be used for open-ended research and experimentation, without the requirement to produce a finalised piece of work.
HIAP Suomenlinna atelier apartments are approx 80 sqm each, furnished, and divided into a working space downstairs and a separate living space consisting of a sleeping area, bathroom, kitchenette, and a loft upstairs. The atelier apartments can accommodate 2-4 persons. Family members are welcome in all our locations.
The residencies can be applied by artists and other arts practitioners. The residency does not involve financial obligations or support (the resident does not have to pay a fee to HIAP, and there is no working grant, travel funding or production budget from HIAP).
More information about the residency programme and the facilities is available here: https://www.hiap.fi/residency/
The deadline for the applications is Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025 (11:59 pm, GMT +3).
