HIAP is hiring: Residency Assistant + Communications Assistant

HIAP is looking to hire two part-time assistants for the years 2022-2023: a Residency Assistant for HIAP Suomenlinna & Cable Factory with 60% employment and a Communications Assistant with 50% employment for the Reside/Sustain project.

RESIDENCY ASSISTANT:

The residency assistant’s task would mostly be related to the premises and activities in Suomenlinna. These tasks include:

  • Up-keep of the premises, inventories and minor fixes to the premises and equipment
  • Arrival & departure arrangements of the residents
  • Orders and deliveries of products and services
  • Assistance in HIAP projects and residency community events

The work involves direct communication with the residents and various service providers, thus fluent English is required. Finnish language skill is not a requirement but is an advantage in some tasks. The work tasks include a fair amount of physical hands-on work. Major maintenance tasks are handled by various service companies (the residency assistant in some cases is the contact person for these, but would not need to do more advanced maintenance tasks).

COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT:

The communication assistant would work with communications and translation of texts (mainly Russian to English and/or Finnish) as well as various event production tasks related to Reside/Sustain project. These tasks include:

  • Formulating and sending press releases
  • Managing and maintaining social media outlets and feeds
  • Building relationships with information distribution partners and reaching out to special interest groups

Fluent English and Russian is required, Finnish language skill is an advantage but not a requirement. We are primarily looking for a person based in Finland, but will take into consideration also applications from people based elsewhere. The applicants should have interest and knowledge on topics of contemporary art as well as ecology, and previous experience working in translation and communications (including social media).
