Dorothée Smith
Dorothée Smith (b. 1985)
The photographs of French artist Dorothée Smith explore the themes of absence and presence, as they paint a picture of the constant changes a young person undergoes. Smith is interested in what is not visible, and what, in people and in the change that happens in them, remains uncaptured by the images. Dorothée Smith’s works have been widely exhibited around the world. She is represented by the Parisian gallery Galerie les Filles du Calvaire.
During her stay at HIAP, the artist has been working on the preparation of her exhibition at the Finnish museum of photography (produced in collaboration with Institut Français de Finlande). The exhibition shows a selection of photographs, videos and a short film. The exhibition explores the notions of transition and identity.
