Elena Agudio
Elena Agudio is a Berlin based art historian and curator. Her research is focused on the sharing and exchange of knowledge and skills across disciplines and cultures. She studied Art History at the University of Venice – Ca’ Foscari and in 2010 she received her PhD in Contemporary Art and Design. From 2005 to 2010 she lectured in Milano at Politecnico and Iulm University and at the University of Architecture of Palermo. Since 2007 she is writing for and coordinating the direction of the Italian art magazine Art e Dossier. In 2013 she has been appointed artistic co-director of SAVVY Contemporary, a non-for profit Berlin based art space founded by Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung, situating itself at the threshold of notions and constructs of the West and non-West, primarily to understand and negotiate between and to deconstruct the ideologies and connotations eminent to such concepts.
Since 2012 she is also artistic director of the Berlin non profit association Association of Neuroesthetics (AoN)_Platform for Neuroscience and Art, a project in collaboration with the Medical University of Charité and the Berlin School of Mind and Brain of the Humboldt University, for which she has curated projects at the Deutsche Guggenheim (Berlin), at the Library of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection (Venice), at the Deutsches Studienzentrum (Venice), HALLE 14 (Leipzig), OHBM. Among the artists she invited to collaborate with the AoN: Clemens von Wedemeyer, Tino Sehgal, Ivana Franke, Florian Hecker.
Elena Agudio has been invited to the Resident Fellow Programme by the Academy of Fine Arts of Uniarts Helsinki. The programme is funded by the Saastamoinen Foundation and implemented in co-operation with HIAP.
