Ilan Manouach

Ilan Manouach (Athens, 1980) is a multidisciplinary artist with a specific interest in conceptual comics. His book works claim for the importance of comics as a materially self-reflexive medium, unaffiliated to any general history of the medium. Since 2014, he concentrates his practice around Shapereader, a community-specific tactile constructed language, initially designed and conceptualized for the purposes of visually impaired users that promotes an embodied textual experience. In addition, he works as a book publisher and a musician. He is a PhD researcher at the Aalto University.
