Past Residents Jana Ribkina
Jana Ribkina is a multidisciplinary artist with a focus on character work and storytelling. Her work is whimsical and humorous, often autobiographical. She’s captivated by folklore, magic, but also by mundanity, often trying to combine these seemingly polar ideas. She works with comics, ceramics, embroidery and tattoing.
For several years in late 90s/early 00s me and my mother would do a yearly summer trip by train to visit my father in Kyiv. Few scorching summer days spent in a stuffy soviet train coupe still appear vividly to me. I would like to delve deeper into this memory and reflect on my upbringing by creating a short graphic novel about it.
