Kiko Pérez
Kiko Pérez (b. 1982) studied Fine Arts in the University of Basque Country in Bilbao, Spain. Pérez combines his artistic career with a job as a carpenter. He works in painting and sculpture, giving special attention to the notion of object, to the process of how things turn into objects and the dialogue between technique and materials. The final results of this research can adopt different shapes and formats, as mural paintings, works on paper, wood sculptures and so on.
During his El Ranchito residency at HIAP, Kiko Pérez will work on a project relating to the architecture of traditional Scandinavian wood houses, focusing in different aspects, in colour combinations, decorative and constructive details, with the aim of producing a series of paper works.
The residency was realised in context of El Ranchito Finland, co-produced by Matadero Madrid, AECID, Ibero-American Institute of Finland, Embassy of Finland, Madrid, HIAP – Helsinki International Artist Programme and Frame Visual Art Finland.
