Nastja Säde Rönkkö
Nastja Säde Rönkkö (b.1985) is an artist based in Helsinki and London. She creates projects that explore presence, intimacy and love across human interactions and social rituals, from the everyday to the profound. Performance, video, text, the Internet and various social interventions are used as an extension or outcome of the projects. She works independently and in a collective LaBeouf, Rönkkö & Turner. Her works has been exhibited in numerous festivals and exhibitions internationally. Recent projects include #TOUCHMYSOUL, FACT, Foundation for Art and Technology, Liverpool, UK (2015) #FOLLOWMYHEART, SXSW 2015, Austin, Texas, USA (2015) and Metamarathon, Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, Netherlands (2014).
Forthcoming projects include a solo exhibition at Saariaho Järvenpää gallery, Helsinki, Finland as well as performances at Hors Piste Festival, Centre Pompidou, Paris and Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, Boulder, USA (2016). She is also actively teaching internationally in schools such as California Institute of the Arts, Los Angeles, USA, Royal College of Arts, London, UK and Central Saint Martins, London, UK. Forthcoming talks include the Oxford Union, Oxford University, UK.
Nastja Säde Rönkkö’s residency in 2016 took place at Matadero Madrid / Madrid, Spain as part of the international residency exchange programme. In March 2017 she is in residence as HIAP alumna at HIAP Suomenlinna.
