Olena Siyatovska

Olena Siatovska is an artist and filmmaker from Ukraine. She was born in the Czech Republic, grew up in Dnipro, lives and works in Kyiv. She studied at the National University of Oles Honchar (Ukraine). Siyatovska focuses on social relations, memory and identity in the digital dimension.

As an artist she works with new media. She received a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture of Poland “Gaude Polonia” in 2022. Olena has participated in exhibitions and residencies in Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Germany and the United States. “I am Michelle” documentary film is the directing debut of Siyatovska.

During USRP residency, I am working on editing the documentary The Running Land, which tells the stories of three Ukrainian teenagers who, faced with the horrors of war, seek solace in the arts instead of a lost childhood. Each story revolves around the theme of “home” — a place reconstructed from memories, ruins, and resilience. Senya mentally returns to Ukraine, reminiscing about his grandmother and bees. Anne transforms shattered buildings into personal symbols through her art. In the third story, people become the supportive walls to each other.
