Ousama Lazkani
Ousama Lazkani (b. 1975) is a UK-based Graphic Artist and Fine Art Tutor who is interested in the relationship between Eastern and Western cultural heritage in terms of art, mythology, astrology, and beliefs; as he lived between Syria, China and the UK.
Ousama was a lecturer in the Faculty of Fine Art in Damascus University, gained an MFA from Central Academy of Fine Art in Beijing, China, and been awarded a PhD from the University of Wales in the UK, thesis entitled: ‘From Orient to Occident: Synthesising Eastern and Western Symbols in Traditional and Contemporary Digital Graphic Techniques’.
Ousama has examined and practised both traditional and contemporary (Eastern and Western) approaches to Fine Art Printmaking and visual culture; focused upon lithography, screen Print, relief print, mono-print, book binding, paper marbling, artist book, in addition to digital techniques of design, engraving and cutting paper and blocks using laser, and its employment in printmaking (as a post-digital technique). He aims to further explore experimental practice and interdisciplinary research and creation, using laser technology in relation to 3D and 4D media.
Ousama has long track record of prestigious national and international exhibitions and publication with an engagement with the Contemporary Art events and activities, and his works are acquired by many international institutions around the world.
