Polly Stanton
Polly Stanton is an audio-visual artist, educator and researcher. Her practice considers various forms of mapping and placemaking by using sound and the moving image to document and reflect human experiences of site and environment. With a particular focus on sound and post-industrial locations, her work investigates how listening shapes our relationship to looking, infrastructure, unseen geographies and the layered temporalities of the natural world.
During her time at HIAP she will be working in the restricted zones of both Vallisaari and Kuninkaansaari islands, documenting these protected environments with both sound and image. The finished work will be exhibited as an essay film that explores unseen environments, forgotten landscapes and the in-between state of exclusion zones.
