Riikka Kuoppala

Riikka Kuoppala (b. 1980, Helsinki, Finland) lives and works in Helsinki. She received her B.F.A. in 2008 from TAMK University of Applied Sciences and her M.F.A. in 2010 from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts. In most of her projects, Kuoppala works at the edge of visual art and some other related or more distant field, such as cinema, journalism or social activism. She makes narrative films and videos, which portray mental spaces instead of actual events. In addition, she has a social practice, which consists of site-specific and collaborative projects.
