Roman Osminkin
Roman Osminkin (b. 1979) is a Saint Petersburg based poet, performer and video artist who has become known as a member of the group Laboratory of Poetical Actionism, founder of Techno-Poetry, author of poetry books Comrade-Thing and Comrade-Word, winner of the poetry event SLAM SPb in 2006 and 2010, as well as an art critic.
Osminkin is interested in studying the dynamics of poetics and politics within the form and structure of a text or image. He is keen to experiment with different media: body and text, voice and language. How to transmit poetry today, when traditional books are facing increased competition from various digital mediums? Also important for Osminkin is the topic of loneliness and collectivity in the modern world: is the artist a lone creator or the creator of the product of the collective?
Roman Osminkin has been invited to Helsinki by HIAP to take part in the Changing Places programme, supported by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture.
