Villa Eläintarha Reopens in June 2025

After almost two years of quiet, we’re thrilled to announce that Villa Eläintarha is coming back to life! Starting from June 2025, this unique and cherished space in Helsinki will once again open its doors to artists, cultural practitioners, and the wider community.

Nestled at the edge of Eläintarhanlahti Bay, Villa Eläintarha has a long and storied past. Originally built at the end of the 19th century, the villa has served as a residency for artists since 2000, offering space for creative exchange and reflection. Over the years, it has become an important site for fostering artistic work and cultural dialogue in Helsinki.

Now, under the direction of cooperative Myymälä2, in partnership with the City of Helsinki and with the support of HIAP – Helsinki International Artist Programme, Villa Eläintarha is entering an exciting new phase. This reopening is made possible by a collaborative approach, uniting organizations and individuals who are committed to keeping this beautiful space alive and vibrant.

Together, we’re ensuring that Villa Eläintarha continues to support artistic work, cultural exchange, and meaningful connections, providing a welcoming environment for diverse creative practices to grow.

Stay tuned for announcements on upcoming residencies, public events, and opportunities to engage with the revitalized Villa Eläintarha. We look forward to welcoming you back.
